Yohji Yamamoto has been delivering his take on footwear through the Adidas Y-3 Sale imprint for over two decades. And while the Japanese designer hasn’t necessarily garnered the mainstream attention of some of the Three Stripes’ collaborators, he’s continuously pushed the boundaries of what sportswear-originated shoes can be. The label’s Osiran silhouette continues the trend, having recently appeared in a cream-like colorway.
Throughout Fall 2020, the robust silhouette appeared in a season-appropriate “Trace Kahki” suede option. Adidas Y-3 Cheap forthcoming iteration partially indulges in the premium fabric, but mostly boasts a high-quality leather construction. The simple upper is split between “White” from midfoot to forefoot, while the Adidas Y-3 Women -branded heel proffers stark “Black” contrast. Protruding detailing across the midsole revert to a pristine light hue, while cushioning and its accompanying tread opt for an off-white scheme.
Not all is totally faithful, though. The sole, specifically, proffers a two-piece platform whose lower half tints a deep yellow. This is shared by the black and white colorways alike, both of which are built out of a premium leather that’s tumbled much more than your average Superstar. Then, the Adidas Y-3 Men stamp of quality hits the heel, branding alongside the insole’s subtler text.
